History of Diamond

Natural Diamond

The history of natural diamonds dates back billions of years, forming deep within the Earth's mantle under conditions of extreme heat and pressure. These remarkable gems were first brought to the Earth's surface through volcanic eruptions. The earliest known diamond mining dates back to around 4th century BCE in India, where diamonds were prized for their beauty and hardness.

Over time, the allure of diamonds spread across the globe, with notable discoveries in Brazil in the 18th century and later in South Africa in the 19th century, which revolutionized the diamond industry. Today, natural diamonds continue to captivate with their unparalleled brilliance and are a symbol of luxury, endurance, and timeless beauty.

Lab Grown Diamond

Lab-grown diamonds are akin to test tube babies, grown from a single diamond seed under the same heat and pressure conditions found in the Earth's crust. They are ecologically friendly, as their production doesn't involve the environmental impact of mining. Additionally, they avoid the ethical issues associated with blood diamonds, leading to widespread acceptance. Importantly, lab-grown diamonds are more consistent in quality and more affordable than mined diamonds.

Chemically, physically, and optically identical to mined diamonds, lab-grown diamonds are created in labs rather than being extracted from deep within the Earth's mantle. This process mimics the natural formation of diamonds, which occurs under immense pressure and heat about 100 miles underground, typically forming between 1 billion and 3 billion years ago when the Earth was much hotter. The primary distinction is that lab-grown diamonds are cultivated in controlled environments, offering a sustainable and ethical alternative to traditional mining.
